Book Reviews

June 22, 2016

Recently I stumbled upon Rosie, The Londoner’s Recommendation for the book, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Joel Dicker.

This International Bestseller had me on my toes this first week of Summer as I raced to solve the mystery which pans out over its 600 or so pages. The Swiss Author, Joel Dicker takes readers on a thrilling ride of trying to solve the murder of a young fifteen year old girl in Somerset, New Hampshire. Although the writing isn’t necessarily Bronte or Austen deep, the plot twists and mounting suspension will keep you reading. I can’t recommend this one enough!

The next book I’ve been conquering this summer has been Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I wanted to read the book before the movie came out, or at least before seeing the movie in theatres!

Me Before You takes place in England in present day and tells the story of Lou, a twenty-something who has been laid off work. She takes up a job of caring for a quadraplegic, Will, who’s frustration and annoyance with life is at a stark contrast to Lou’s outlook on things. This unlikely pair finds themselves friends, both helping each other out in pivotal points in their lives.

I have not yet seen the movie having just finished the book, but I was quite pleased with this book! It was incredibly touching, and I would recommend it as a great summer read.

Your Turn! Any good books you have read lately?? I would love to hear your titles! I would love to add some more titles to my list!

Happy Reading!

-Caitlin 🙂
