Can you believe it’s already April 21st??? Hard to believe! Here’s what’s been going on currently…
Teaching….There are a few weeks to go of the school year, and I cannot believe how quickly the year has gone. I’m finishing up my second year teaching, and couldn’t be happier. I find that as I teach, I’m learning more and more each day. Whether it’s a new technique to teach or a different classroom management strategy, I’ve come to the conclusion that I will never stop learning while in the classroom. This year has brought with it some new thoughts of teaching. I implemented alternative seating in my room, eliminating most of the desks in exchange for sitting on the floor and standing desks. I’ve also loved learning more about new technologies in the classroom which has helped me to expand my own methods of teaching. I’m hoping in the future to pursue my masters and further my education in other ways.
Reading…I’m currently in the middle of re-reading through Love Does by Bob Goff. I love the book and the uplifting and humorous stories, so this is my (proud to say it) third time reading it! It’s been a terrific pick-me-up book on those days when I need it. My goal for 2017 was to read two books a month. While that hasn’t exactly happened, I still have high hopes of completing my goal of 24 books by the end of 2017!
Listening…I finished up “Missing Richard Simmons” and have now been leaning towards a great deal of good ‘ol NPR and CPR (Colorado Public Radio) in the mornings. I appreciate being informed via the radio! I’ve also been pulling out the Newsboys album, “Go” from early 2000’s. Not sure if anyone remembers this one, but it definitely leaves you feeling uplifted. I’ve also loved going back to John Denver’s albums and reliving my childhood, as his tapes were all I listened to as a kid in the car on road trips.
Traveling…Last weekend I headed up Pikes Peak with family friends on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Colorado still has the advantage of taking my breath away (literally and metaphorically). Even as a native, I love Colorado and am hoping to take some road trips around the state this summer. I’m thinking Telluride, Mesa Verde, Sand Dunes, and of course some of the Summit County destinations. Since Summer is right around the corner, there’s some trips up to Northern Minnesota popping up as well as celebrating dear friends’ weddings!
Running…Two weekends ago I ran 14 miles in one shot! This was the longest I’ve ever ran before, and it left me feeling encouraged. I’m not quite as nervous about the Marathon in June at this rate…now I just have to keep my mileage up!! Who knew training took so much out of you?!
Dreaming…About more time. I’ve been quickly realizing this week how important it is to take time to just be still and appreciate what is going on around you. It’s refreshing to just appreciate where you are without worrying about your to-do-list or determining how to fill your time.
Eating…lots and lots of avocado toast. I seriously love that stuff so much.
Loving…Lots of different exercise clothing…I think that one may be a bit obvious. (Especially the J. Crew x New Balance Mix-so cute) There may be a ratio between success of working out and cute workout clothing…
Feeling…like my list earlier this week about discovering life lessons in your 20’s. Some of those are so so real at different points in this decade. After conversations with a dear friend over breakfast last week, we discussed how so many people in their lives go through life differently in their twenties, but yet we can all relate to each other. It’s an interesting age to be in!
Wearing…Lots and lots of florals. I feel like I live for this time of year! I’m also loving my classic buffalo check button-up (probably some of the best $7 I spent at Old Navy end of season) which I am constantly pulling out. On Pikes Peak last weekend, it was definitely a change to go from 70 degree weather to 21 degrees at the peak, so these layers did the trick! I also love my favorite converse and vest.
Blogging…I’ve really felt in the groove about blogging lately, and it has been so nice to connect with other bloggers and find ways to pour myself creatively. I’m hoping to keep pushing with my blog, especially as summer nears!
So how about you?? What have you been up to lately? Any good books or throwback CD’s on your radar??
