October Snapshots and the Blogging Rut

October 24, 2017

Hey friends, it’s been what seems like a while since I’ve been on here. I’m not really sure why I haven’t been motivated more to post content, and partially I have been questioning why I’m blogging. Questions such as-where am I going with this blog? Why am I blogging? Is this really all that important?-have all been swirling around my head lately, and although I can’t say I have clear answers to these questions, I know I’m still enjoying being here.

I love the creative process of this space. I enjoy being able to design a website, connect with other bloggers, think creatively with my writing and have an outlet to write about life. I think at times, I put so much pressure on myself to create wonderful content while also feeling pulled into the comparison game (Does my blog look as good as that blog? I don’t have the money or time to spend curating a wardrobe like that blogger’s-does that make me less important?) I realize these things all sound silly, but when that is what you are exposed to in the blogging world, it’s almost inevitable that is what happens. I’m a little embarrassed to admit all this, but it is totally true.

There are some days I’m at a loss as to why I’m blogging. Anyone else out there feel that way??

I wrote a little while ago about value and placing value on certain aspects of our lives and how that affects everything else. There are days when I feel that in order to have a blog that has value, I need something that can compete with other blogs. Then, I quickly step back and realize that isn’t at all true-rather I need something that complements me and showcases things that I value in life.

So, I think this entire post is to say that I’m at this interesting crossroads. I’m listening to a great deal of Jenna Kutcher and breaking down more meaning as to where I want Lemonade Press to go. I’m open to suggestions and to building things up on here to make sure I don’t get to a place where I feel lost and unsure of where to go. So for now, I’m going to keep trekking on, continuing on this blogging journey.

With that being said, while I think more about blogging, I’ve been resting quite a bit. And by rest-I mean see as many people as possible and be present with those people over the course of October.

My second reason for the lack of posting? Well, a dear friend’s wedding, and a trip to North Dakota and Minnesota. Even though the weekends have been busy, they’ve been so very worth it.

Here’s a few snapshots from this month!

One of the big highlights has been the Minnesota Vikings game in the Twin Cities. The new stadium for the Vikings is amazing!! I was in awe of it, and of all the traditions which go on throughout the games. I’m feeling pretty good about splitting my time between being a Vikings and Broncos fan. 😉

We waited in line for rolled ice cream for 45 minutes because of the process time it takes to make rolled ice cream. It’s quite the experience to watch the ice cream being made.

Sometimes the cutest shops are the ones tucked away in small towns. Loved this cute one in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

If you didn’t know, the University of North Dakota has one of the best College Men’s Hockey Teams. 10/10 would recommend seeing a hockey game at the Ralph Engelstad arena-it certainly does not disappoint. (Especially when you can see it with your sibling!)

Celebrating this crazy lady’s wedding made for an exciting weekend. Lots of laughter, happy tears, and memories!

And the venue for the wedding?? Gorgeous.

It’s certainly been a wonderful month with more fun to come.

If you have any topics you’d like to see on the blog, I would love to hear!

  • I totally understand the blogging rut. I’ve been going through the same thing myself–especially in terms of comparisons with other bloggers. It can be so frustrating, but I hope taking some time away from the blog can help! I took a break from my latest project (Twitter, ha!) and told myself I didn’t need to stick to a posting schedule this month if I didn’t feel like it, and it definitely helped. LOVE your photos of Minnesota! 🙂 So jealous you got to go to US Bank Stadium, I still haven’t been!

    • It’s good to hear I’m not alone in that! That’s such a good idea to take a break from Twitter. It’s amazing how much a break can do!
Hope you can get back to Minne soon! The stadium is amazing. 🙂

Your travel photos look lovely! And I totally get your blogging rut. I am approaching my first full year of blogging and looking back, I wonder, do I like where I am? Should I keep going? And if so, what direction? To be honest, I still don’t really know the answer, so I am trekking on like you are haha. I wonder if other bloggers are like that.
