Summer nights lately have been filled with ice cream, (surprise), sitting out on the patio talking, or walking around town. But isn’t that what summer was just made for??
While my dear friend Jenny was out last week, we took a chance and went to the Turkey Leg Festival in town. It was definitely different than I was expecting, but fun nonetheless. We feasted on chicken legs while listening to the music from an old time string band. I think the crowning moment of the evening was this giant watermelon. If you’ve seen the scene in Pollyanna when Haley Mills (still one of my favorite movies, if you haven’t seen it, I’d highly recommend it!) is eating the watermelon slice at the Bazaar, that was exactly how I felt eating this piece of Watermelon. So tasty, and fresh from the garden. After the fair, we walked around town which was illuminated by the perfect light from the sunset.
Even though I have not shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer, this blue peplum top is from the Half Yearly Sale back in May. I love the material and loose fit which has worked well for school wear as well as wearing out and about. I love that I can wear it with denim shorts or colored shorts, and who can go wrong with Navy? (Plus, this top is now 25%!)
I chuckle because I’ve actually always been fearful of wearing white pants. I wouldn’t call myself the most graceful person and after many trips and falls over the years, my pants always get the brute of the fall. Whoops. Because of this, until last summer, I had never owned a pair of white shorts and I’m so happy I picked these up while in Boston. They are so comfortable and easy to wear, and truly go with everything. They’ve been marvelous to wear this summer! (And they’re also on sale for less than $25 and come in a variety of colors.)
Biggest Thanks goes to Jenny for the photos!
What has been your favorite part of summer so far?
