On Saturday, I had the privilege of running my second half marathon with some dear friends in Waconia, Minnesota. It was an absolutely perfect day to run!
My first Half Marathon a few years ago, I didn’t do too great a job of training, and I finished in 2:08:49. My goal this time around was to train more consistently, and run a sub 2 hour Half. Which I did! My end time was 1:59:32!
It was wonderful to run with some fantastic Luther gals, and I was so grateful for the opportunity to run with them. It didn’t matter where we ran, because being with these gals made the weekend.
Lola’s Half Marathon is part of the Minnesota Race Series and spanned the length of Lake Waconia. The views were calming, with few hills.
I decided to bring along my phone to track my mileage via FitBit. And it worked to take pictures as well! Win win. I actually really loved having my phone with me, something I was debating on, because it helped to keep my mind busy while my body did all the work.
(**note: I started my Fitbit tracking before I got across the start line to officially start the race)
Another perk of this race was to have some great supporters at the finish line! Couldn’t have asked for better!
The After Party for Lola’s was pretty great as runners and support crews alike joined down at Lola’s Lakehouse for BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, and beer, all provided free for runners. Live music was played while runners sat on the dock to listen.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to have run this weekend, and spend time with some pretty great people as well. Running + Good Friends = What could be better?
Hope your week is going well!
